Extension of HPV Screening Intervals Paper

This paper examines a recent research study to assess the possibility of extending the cervical screening intervals for women of all ages who have never received a positive HPV result.

The paper supports an extension of the screening intervals to five years for women aged 25-49 years and even longer intervals for women aged 50 years and older to ensure the HPV screening programme remains cost effective. The screening interval for HPV positive women who have negative HPV tests at early recall should, however, be kept at three years.
