The latest MBRRACE-UK Saving Lives and Improving Mothers’ Care Report for 2021 has been published. This continues to show that outcomes for women are not equal with gaps in maternal mortality rates between deprived and affluent areas, different ages and different ethnic groups.
Maternal mortality is four times more likely in women from black ethnic groups than women from white groups, and twice as likely in women from Asian ethnic backgrounds.
The report includes key messages for older mothers for a healthy pregnancy and after; for caring for women with mental health needs; and for prevention and treatment of thromboembolism.
